Instructions and Guidelines for the Welcome Desk
Time: Welcome desk workers should be present before and after the main service. Be prepared to staff the desk from 9:50–10:15, and after the service. Leave the service during the benediction, so you can be there to greet any ‘quick departers’. If you attend Sunday School, you are encouraged to staff the desk before Sunday School as well.
Name badges are stored in the upper left side drawer of the welcome desk. Workers are encouraged to wear their name badge to let visitors know we are ready to answer any and all questions.
Gift bags are stored in the center cabinet of the welcome desk. Bring one out and put it on the desk before the service, so it is in easy reach if you need to give one away. Gift bags contain a Connection Card and pen, which may encourage a visitor to fill one out. If you give away the last one, be sure to let Susan Strange know ASAP, so she can restock.
General: Greet visitors when they arrive, and help with any information or needs they may have. Introduce yourself to them and ask if they have any questions. Be prepared to direct guests to the nursery, the restrooms, and other less-than-obvious places. Avoid getting absorbed in conversation with regular attenders, in order to remain focused on and available for new visitors.
Scheduling: The schedule is updated on an as needed basis. If you find that an assigned date does not work for you, see if you can switch dates with another welcome desk worker. Alternatively, let Matt or Susan Strange know (voice or text: 570-662-7718), as they are typically available to fill in.
