Last week one of our members had a medical emergency during Sunday school. The whole room jumped up to help and comfort the family, which reaction was embraced as sincere love. The family noted with praise, the Lord’s comfort and care shined through the church—this was truly the best place to experience such an emergency.
Our Sunday school class worked through 1 Corinthians 15 prior to this medical issue—a chapter orienting us to the nature of death and resurrection. There are topics in which the Spirit intends to teach us and assure us. Our church not only tackled the topics but viewed a serious demonstration—are we prepared to take these things seriously?
We rejoice the Lord is gracious and full of mercy especially toward our faithful friends who need His compassion as they walk through this season. I also rejoice the Lord has given us assurances in His victory over the grave—assurances to be shared and echoed through the love and compassion of the body of believes. Where else would a group of people gather to discuss these kinds of topics with warmth and genuine love.
Our work as Christians consists of demonstrating the love of Christ. Likewise, we are to wrestle with topics like death and critical emergencies, we have far better answers to the subject matter than the world could ever offer. Our gospel is the necessary preparation. This gospel leads us to embrace even death with a sustainable hope of glory. As our brothers and sisters face these challenges let us lift prayers and assurances because we know who lives forevermore.
